Baroque Flute Boot Camp XV: The Gauntlet

The Fifteenth Annual Baroque Flute Boot Camp is officially underway. The participants have all been sent their invitation to the wiki, and all but a few files have been uploaded. Below is the repertoire list (also available on the wiki). Oil those flutes, hit those long tones, and get ready for fun but intense music making in a supportive environment. This year there are six (6) new participants (with another one or two likely to join before the July 1 deadline), so Captain Janet, Sergeant Kathie, and Commander Kim are looking forward to lots of good combinations of people for duos, trios, trio sonatas, and three flutes with continuo options.

As soon as you know what solo piece(s) you'll be working on, please let me know so our workshop continuo guru can have them under his fingers before the workshop starts.

BFBC XV: What to bring to Seattle

For the "newbies" this year and as a reminder for the "seasoned veterans," here is a list of things to bring to the workshop.

  • Music stand
  • Flutes (if you have more than one flute, bring it/them; there is usually a contingent of 392 Hz flutes; penny whistles and trad flutes are welcome too; see schedule for World Music events)
  • Workbook
  • Repertoire from the list (iPad, Laptop, Kindle, or any other device which reads PDF)
  • Solo music from rep list plus your once Player's Choice piece (plus copies for the group if you didn't upload it to the Wiki)
  • Other music, outside of the assigned, because impromptu duets and trios can happen at any time, even if it seems as if there is NO spare time, there always is.
  •  3-ring binder with at least 3 tabs
  • Small post-it notes
  • Pencils, highlighter (optional)
  • Something on which to take notes during masterclass
  • Light jacket
  • Flute maintenance kit (beeswax, electrical tape, silk thread, super glue, small piece of neoprene, etc.)
  • And one HAWAIIAN SHIRT for Thursday, because Thursday is Hawaiian Shirt Day.
